A new Ballerina image.

I was goofing off with Photoshop and came up with this simple image. I played with the colour, sharpened/softened and added a ghost from another image of her.

Kids are cute :)

I took my niece shopping for a new outfit and this is what we came up with. It was perfect for the hot days we've been having.

Casual green shorts and a light cotton top (Children's Place). Don't forget the purple jelly shoes (Please Mum), flower ring, hat and bracelets (chosen by my niece from Ardene)

Orfus Road - So So So So cheap!

Down the street from Yorkdale Mall at the corner of Orfus Rd. and Dufferin St. there is a great place for anyone seeking bargains on clothing, accessories or household items. There are countless outlet stores for you to explore.

I go for the clothing because I can get a new outfit for less than $10 per piece!

There are a lot of stores that you find in any mall such as Nine West *points left*, Le Chateau, Urban Behavior, Urban Planet, roots73, Costa Blanca, Suzy Shier, Sirens and the list goes on.

There are a lot of random stores that have equally great deals. I suggest you go in those too because they are fantastic.

There is also a Shopping Channel store and Kitchen Stuff Plus!!

I found a couple hot shoppers who were happy to be shot for the blog! :)

Sometimes there are guys selling perfume from their trunks...or they holler at you form their car in the street. I didn't see any of them the last time I was there so I couldn't get a picture.

There are many hot dog/sausage and ice cream stands for quick eats on the go and a few restaurants near by like Caffe Demetre.

I suggest parking at the plaza just after Orfus.

So if you need a new wardrobe, dress, outfit or ANYTHING go to the Orfus Road outlet stores. I've been there many times already since early Spring :)

Ballerina

Alyssa and I started the day off early at a beach in Tecumseh (my home town in Ontario).

We shot for half a day at various locations. I used a Nikon D70s with the 18-70mm kit lens. I also rented two other lenses; 50mm 1.4D and Zeiss ZF.2 85mm F1.4

For the beach and grassy areas I used an SB-600 in the back and SB-800 in the front to my right.

Nikon D70s 85mm Zeiss lens - f9.5 1/500th

The weather was slightly cool and Alyssa was a pro at taking it.

We also visited the old Windsor's Print Maker's Forum on Riverside Dr.

Rebirth of Perception - Windsor, Ontario

On Friday May 27th was the opening reception for the Rebirth of Perception show at the Boom Boom Room in Windsor Ontario (Where I was born and my heart will always be).

Facebook event link

Facebook page gallery link

Local artists (including myself) came together to remind everyone what is great about Windsor...especially the arts and culture! It features everything from Photography, paintings to Jewelry!

There was a fantastic turn out because the show coordinator and fellow artist Aleksandra Wadas has done a fantastic job getting the word into the media!

You're still able to catch the show this weekend! June 3rd and 4th.

AND there are more to come!!!

Below are some images I took. I had a few drinks, so they aren't the greatest quality :P

Imagine - Plan - Shoot

You have a wicked concept for an editorial or creative shoot with a model. How do you start?

First, I take the general idea (in my case ballerina with balloons) and brainstorm lighting and moods I can create indoor and outdoor. I also ALWAYS collaborate with the model, makeup artists and hair stylists involved. It's funner that way :)

I imagined the ballerina at various locations like water, desert, mountain, deserted buildings, sky...yes sky. They jump right?

Don't forget costumes, hair and makeup!

There's also props to consider..these are fun and make the images more appealing (I love the dollar store :))!......enter balloons. Shapes, colours, some helium some oxygen (happy vs sad balloons)

I write these down and then I draw pictures (usually)....and write them down again with the images. They may not make sense to you however I know what I see! Excuse my lack of skill..my boyfriend is the one in the relationship who has them.

What always happens is, I do my ideas however while shooting 'I'm very go with the flow' as I always say. Images pop into my head as I shoot or look around. I play with the lighting, and camera settings.

At this point I'm not even thinking about post (processing)! I see what I want in my head however I worry about editing when I get there.

There's so much to think about and put together and it's fantastic to work with models who are dedicated to their craft and are willing to change their clothes in public or the back of my car....Sarah, Hailey, Kailey, Sonya to name a few!

And it's fun to compare the drawings with the finished product.

Thank you for reading!! :) I shoot my ballerina in Windsor this Saturday! I'M SO EXCITED!!!
